Bundesliga News - 2018/2019 Matchday 2

Hannover 96 picked up their 2nd draw in 2 matches when they hosted Dortmund on Friday.  The scoreless tie also means that both clubs remain unbeaten through the first 2 matchdays of the season.  Hannover’s first draw of the season came against SV Werder Bremen last weekend, and Bremen have just signed Dutch midfielder Davy Klaassen away from Everton.  Klaassen captained Ajax to the 2017 UEFA Europa League final and was named his country’s Footballer of the Year in 2016.  Bremen’s draw last weekend already has them off to the right start, as it was the 1st time in 4 years that they didn’t lose on Matchday 1.  Bremen’s opponent this weekend, Eintracht Frankfurt, will be looking for their 2nd win of the season, and are unbeaten in their last 8 home matches against Bremen, but could be without Ante Rebic again, who is still nursing an ankle problem.  Frankfurt have secured the return of Kevin Trapp on a season-long loan, 3 years after he left the club to play for Paris Saint-Germain.  Trapp started his professional career with Kaiserslautern before joining Eintracht in 2012 and making 82 Bundesliga appearances for the club.  Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Hoffenheim have signed English youth international Reiss Nelson on loan from Arsenal for the 2018-19 season.  Nelson has played in 38 matches for his country’s U23 team, scoring 17 goals and making 11 assists, and also made 16 appearances for Arsenal’s first team.  Hoffenheim will host Freiburg on Saturday , where Andrej Kramaric is expected to make his 1st start of the season.  Kramaric missed last weekend’s match against Bayern due to a knee complaint, but returned to training this week.  Freiburg coach Christian Streich may miss the trip to Hoffenheim, however, due to a slipped disc, leaving assistant Lars Voßler temporarily in charge.  Freiburg are without a win in their last 10 Bundesliga matches, and have not won in 6 attempts in Hoffenheim.  Later on Saturday, Stuttgart will host Bayern, who have won 5 of their last 6 Matchday 2 contests, with the 6th being a draw against Schalke in the 2014-15 season.  Bayern’s Franck Ribery is set to make his 250th Bundesliga appearance, and will be the 10th non-German player to reach that milestone when playing for just 1 club.  Stuttgart, however, are unbeaten at home under coach Tayfun Korkut.
