Danny Latza is a 27-year-old defensive midfielder for 1. FSV Mainz 05. Latza was born in 1989 in Gelsenkirchen, West Germany, and began his football career in 1995 playing for his local club, DJK Arminia Ückendorf. In 1998, he transferred to FC Schalke 04, where his senior career began in 2007 for Schalke’s reserve squad. His first professional appearance came in 2009 against VfL Bochum. He transferred to SV Darmstadt 98 in the 3. Liga for the 2011-12 season, and was then signed by MSV Duisburg in 2013, but the transfer was voided when Duisburg was denied a license to play in the 2013-14 2. Bundesliga season. Latza then signed with Bochum, where he played until being picked up by Mainz in 2015. Latza scored his first Bundesliga goals on December 17, 2016: a hat trick against Hamburg.
