By Rich Murray Julian Brandt is a 20-year-old winger for Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Brandt, who was born in Bremen, began his football career playing for SC Borgfeld from 2001 to 2009, and then moved to FC Oberneuland from 2009 to 2011. He joined the youth academy of VfL Wolfsburg in 2011, where he played until he was picked up by Leverkusen during the January 2011 transfer window for a reported fee of 350,000 Euros, with a contract to run until 2019. His professional debut came on February 15, 2014 against Schalke, when he replaced Son Heung-Min after 82 minutes. His European Cup debut came just 3 days later against Paris Saint-Germain, and he scored his first Bundesliga goal on April 4, 2014 against Hamburg. Brandt was part of the German squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics, and in March and April 2016, became the youngest player since Gerd Müller to score in 6 consecutive Bundesliga matches.
