Hoffenheim extended its unbeaten streak on Friday with a 2:2 draw against visiting Borussia Dortmund. Hoffenheim’s goals came from Mark Uth and Sandro Wagner, while Dortmund’s Mario Götze and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang kept the visitors in the match with a goal each. Dortmund lost Marco Reus at the 41st minute for a second yellow card, but his absence was more than made up for by a standout performance by Ousmane Dembélé, who set up both of the Dortmund goals. Hoffenheim is now 6 points behind Leipzig and Bayern, with Hertha, Dortmund, and Frankfurt trailing close behind in the standings. Bayern announced 2 contract extensions this week: striker Robert Lewandowski’s contract will now run through 2021, and defender Rafinha extended his contract to 2018. Schalke will be struggling with injuries on Saturday when they host Freiburg: strikers Breel Embolo, Franco Di Santo, and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar have already been out for several weeks, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has an illness that will keep him off the pitch this weekend. A possible replacement is Donis Avdijaj, who made his Bundesliga debut last week against Leverkusen. Augsburg hosts Gladbach on Saturday, and it will be Augsburg’s first match without former coach Dirk Schuster, who was ousted earlier this week. His interim replacement is Manuel Baum, who will be missing 3 players due to injuries and 1 player due to a suspension. Augsburg has struggled this season, but has managed to avoid the relegation zone by 4 points. The Bundesliga has announced its official Facebook page, and is making the page available in German, English, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese. The new media presence adds to the existing channels on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, and the website and Bundesliga app. Also this week, the schedules for both the 1. and 2. Bundesliga were announced up through Matchday 28 of the current season. The remaining portion of the schedule is expected to be announced during the first half of March.
