Stuttgart beat Köln 2-1 in Friday night's match at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart. Stuttgart drew first blood with a goal in the 38th minute by Anastasios Donis. Köln answered in the 77th minute with a goal from Dominique Heintz, but that wasn't enough as Stuttgart's Chadrac Akolo scored the game winning goal in the 94th minute. Stuttgart moves up to the 10th spot in the Bundesliga table with 10 points just above Hertha Berlin, while Köln remains lost at the very bottom of the Bundesliga table with only 1 point earned out of 8 games played. Yes, it is still early in the season, but will Köln be able to find their form in time to avoid the drop? On Saturday, Bobby Wood & Christian Pulisic, return to Bundesliga following Tuesday night's heartbreaking USMNT loss to Trinidad & Tobago. With this loss, the USMNT will miss the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia next summer - they haven't missed a World Cup since 1986. This is a very sad turn of events for all footie fans. But life goes on, and the beautiful game will play on via matches in Bundesliga, EPL, MLS, La Liga, etc. Question is, in the short term, can Wood and Pulisic shake this off in order to focus all their effort towards the success of their clubs, Hamburg & Dortmund? And if do, in the long term, will they be able to stay focused when their club teammates start excitedly talking about their dreams for Russia in the locker rooms in the weeks leading up to the tournament? I guess we'll have to wait and see...
